Unplugged ceremony

We will begin the celebration with a brief civil ceremony. We are absolutely thrilled to share one of the most precious... moments of our lives with you, which is why we ask that you be fully present during this special time. Kindly put away your phones and cameras for the ceremony and enjoy the moment with us, our photographer and videographer will take care of the rest.

Venue

We have chosen to celebrate our big day in the Finnish countryside. Our wedding venue,... Willa Vatkulan Yliset, is situated in a small village called Hausjärvi, approximately 80 km north of Helsinki.

There will be lots of parking space available at the venue.

Accommodation

Since Hausjärvi is very small, accommodation options there are quite limited. For this reason, the bridal couple and the rest of the wedding party will... stay in another town nearby called Hyvinkää.

The wedding party will stay in Hyvinkää at Hotel Sveitsi (address: Härkävehmaankatu 4, 05900 Hyvinkää).

Getting there

The closest airport is in Helsinki. There are several different travel options you can choose from to go to Hotel Sveitsi in Hyvinkää or... directly to the wedding in Hausjärvi.

Getting to Hyvinkää
You can take the train to Hyvinkää directly from Helsinki airport, or alternatively from Helsinki Central station.

• By train from Helsinki Airport
Helsinki Airport to Hyvinkää, via Tikkurila (take P-commuter train at the airport and change to R-commuter train at Tikkurila). The length of the journey is around 50 min and costs approximately 8€.

• By train from Helsinki Central Station:
R-commuter train departs to Hyvinkää every 30 min. The length of the journey is around 45 min and costs approximately 9€.

• From Hyvinkää train station to Hotel Sveitsi: Hotel Sveitsi is just 1,5 km away from the train and bus station of Hyvinkää. Hotel shuttle bus operates between the city centre and hotel throughout the day.

There is also a taxi stand near the train station.

• By taxi / car from Helsinki Airport:
Taking a taxi from Helsinki Airport to Hotel Sveitsi will cost approximately 80-100€.

There are also several car rental services at Helsinki Airport. The drive from Helsinki to Hyvinkää is around 45 min by car.

Getting to Hausjärvi
From Helsinki you can reach Hausjärvi in approximately 1 hour by car, in case you prefer to stay in Helsinki instead of Hyvinkää.

The closest train stations are about 5 km away from the wedding venue in Hikiä and Oitti.

Transport

Since the distance between Hyvinkää and Hausjärvi is about 22 km, we will take care of your transport. A bus will be provided to transport guests... from Hotel Sveitsi to the wedding venue and back. The bus will depart on May 18th at 13.00 in front of the hotel and return to the hotel on May 19th at 01.15. Please advise upon RSVP if you would like a seat in the bus.

We recommend taxi services for guests who would like to return to the hotel before the bus departure. Please see the section "Links & Numbers" for local taxi companies.

Children

As sweet and wonderful as children are, we hope you will understand our decision to make the wedding children-free and take the opportunity... to let your hair down and celebrate in style! Infants under 12 months are of course welcome.

Party time!

After the wedding formalities are over, be ready to show your best moves on the dance floor as IT'S PARTY TIME!... The dance floor opens around 19.30, right after the first dance of the bridal couple.

The party will go on until 01.00 after which there will be bus transportation back to Hotel Sveitsi in Hyvinkää.

OPEN BAR. There will also be night snack available during the evening hours.

Dress code

Formal preferred (dark suit and tie for the gents / dress, pantsuit or dressy separates for the ladies). We kindly ask you to save white for the bride....

The ceremony will be held outdoors, weather permitting. However, the reception itself will take place indoors.

Tip: Even though May in Finland is usually sunny and warm (at least by Nordic standards), Finnish weather can be unpredictable, so take that into account when packing your suitcase for the trip.

Speeches

Would you like to say a few words or share a memory of us with everyone? Or perhaps surprise us with a wedding tradition from your country? If you simply can't resist the idea, please reach out to our toastmaster Annika to set it up by May 1st, 2024 (please see her contact information in the next section).

Please take into account that our guests are quite an international crowd, so we would appreciate it if your speech / surprise were in English, so that everyone would be able to follow.

Gifts

Since we've already lived together for a while and we've got all our plates, pots and pans, we don't really need anything new, but your presence at our wedding would be the greatest gift of all.

However, if you would like to give a gift to help us celebrate, some money for our honeymoon we would appreciate.

During the wedding weekend, there is a music festival going on in Hyvinkää, which unfortunately

means that most of the hotels are fully booked. If you don't want to stay at Hotel Sveitsi with us, you

can try other hotels in the nearby area, such as: Scandic Hyvinkää, Teatterihotelli Riihimäki,

Hotel Seurahuone, Niklandia cottage rentals, or Airbnb.

Additional Information

If you are arriving on the 18th

For those arriving and checkign in at Hotel Sveitsi on May 18th: even though the check-in doesn't start until 15.00, you can always try to check in early, before the wedding bus departure at 13.00. However, if your room isn't ready by then, you can leave your luggage at the hotel storage room and pick it up when checking in upon your return to the hotel. The reception is open 24 hours a day.

Regarding the ceremony

We kindly would like to remind everyone about the unplugged ceremony (but feel free to go full-on paparazzi after the ceremony!)

Regarding the wedding bus

The bus to the wedding venue will depart in front of the entrance of Hotel Sveitsi at 13.00. The bus will drop everyone off at the same spot upon the return at night.

If you would like to return to the hotel before the bus departure at 01.15, you can try some of the local taxi companies (a few suggestions are listed in the section "Links & Numbers"). However, since Hausjärvi is a small countryside village, taxis there aren't always available or reliable, which is of course very unfortunate.

If you already know in advance that you would like to return to the hotel before the wedding bus departure and don't want to try your luck with the taxis, please contact Hanna or David by Friday May 17th at the latest, we will try to organize a ride for you (the owners of the wedding venue can transport guests to the hotel for a small monetary compensation).

Meet & Greet on the 17th

We are planning to organize a small meet and greet gathering in one of the restaurants in Hotel Sveitsi on May 17th for the guests who arrive already on Friday. We will send more information regarding this a little closer to the date.
